· Primary responsibilities include supervising train crews on thru-freight trains, coordinating switch engine
moves at rail yards and industries to ensure accurate and efficient movement and placement of freight cars.
· Review and implement job transmissions from regional dispatchers and local yardmasters, inspect all
equipment on freight cars prior to departure as well as meeting with the locomotive engineer and train crew as
needed in order to ensure safest route possible.
· Receive and understand dispatch/subdivision bulletins, implement work orders, and switch lists. Maintain
awareness of surrounding areas including suspicious activity in order to ensure rail safety throughout the
subdivision.
· Assist and instruct train crews to couple and uncouple cars, operate rail line switches, perform minor repairs to
railcars, including replacing heavy couplings and air brake hoses.
· Operate locomotives through the use of remote control devices at rail yards to build outbound trains,
specifically building Consists and spotting freight cars at customer industries.
